BunnyGarden

Rabbits have been enjoying their 15m2 area all summer. She is Viola.

They live in one of my favourite places in MyGarden...

...under the oldest and biggest lilac.

The lilac creates the shadow also over their outdoor fence which have just sun cover to protect them from the rain.

When it is not raining they are free to go in and out and again all over.

They are free to do what they desire.

Almost...

No, none of them was digging! No, not even I saw who it was. They seem to have no idea from where that rabbit hole appeared! We always fill all the deep holes and they are so happy, because then they can start it all over again.

Meanwhile I was filling the holes they had a lunch break.

Poor Pernilla has been putting her nose there where she should not; and scratching it because of the mosquitos.

They all still look this white despite I allow them to dig. More dirty they get if it is rainy day and they are not allowed outdoor! I still believe my WindFan makes its job perfectly. If they have messed up themselves during the night when they always stay inside the BunnyHouse and I let them out on the morning, it takes few hours and they all look again this white. IKEA Klippan -tutorial

Don't get confused! This is an old project which I moved here because of the renewings the blog is going through. I know it is important to know you can still save your IKEA Klippan sofa for 4 persons by new cover. I destroyed the Sewing site where this was so it can be found here now.

This is an old IKEA Klippan sofa in new clothes and pillows for 4 person. We bought it over 6 years ago. It was on sale and I didn't understand they were going to stop selling it. That's why I bought only one cover for it. Now the life with the cat has lead us to the point despite of desperate seeking I ended up the fact we need new sofa or cover for the old one. It would have been shame to throw the old sofa away because finally now it has got a bit soft and cosy; besides the damages were done just on one corner of the cover. So, I bought the fabric and spent three days with the project. I wasted just 70€ and the result is good. :)

Making new cover for a sofa is easy. Especially if it is one you can take away and wash easily. This cover & pillows pictured above are my own design but anyone can do the same. You can get the patterns from the old cover. You can cut them out from the old cover by cutting the pieces by the seams. If the cover is symmetric at both sides you need to cut only half out off it. If you are ever again going to make another cover I recommend you draw the patterns on the paper so that they are easier to storage. Save the "whole part" of the half cover as an example of it how you must sew it all to get similar. :) After finishing the new cover you can throw the old away.

You should wash the fabric before using it to make it shrink (if it will). But still you can add some extra centimeters keeping your eye on shrinking abilities. The fabrics shrinks more to its lenght direction than width. Including a bit extra is important even you had shrink the fabric before sewing. All the shrinking may not happen at one time and later in the future it might happen that you need to try to save the cover by washing it in hotter temperature than allowed to... The easiest way to add this extra is to add bigger sewing allowances but use the normal of them; for example add 2cm but use only 1cm. (If you have ever washed the old cover it have shrunk a bit.)

If you want to make some pillows for the sofa you can use the left over fabric. If you want fat and soft pillows easiest way to make them is to make the pillow cases too small. The pillow cases pictured above are 38cm x 40cm (finished size) and the pillows inside are actually 45cm x 45cm. When the pillow cases are approximately 5cm smaller than the pillows inside they keep up the thick fat soft shape very easily. And believe me -it all fits in there very well. The pillows can have different kind of background so that you can use both sides. I made the pillows which have just jeans blue fabric on the back side. If I feel too striped I can calm down the style just by turning the pillows. :)

Thistle (free chart)

Here we go! It is in Finnish but the point is easy to find out.

If you stitch it all according to the chart
Määrä shows the meters you need the certain thread.

If you are using Aida 14 Count,
use 2 strand for cross stitches
and 1 strand for back stitches.

When working with Variegated shades
make each individual stitch ready before moving on.
That makes it all to stay in balance
and let the thread to be shown out tranquil.

Doll for a BabyDoll

This is a GingerBreadBoyMould and a GingerBreadBabyBoyToy. Sounds complicated but is not. It is my own design but easy to do!

It is yellow...

...and it is green.

How ever you like. Just turn it around!
I used some beads and sequins for facial details.
I used blanket stitches to fasten
the yellow and green felts together

Do you remember BabyDollBed I made?

Every LittleGirl has plenty of BabyDolls. But do they have a doll for they BabyDoll? This is a Doll for a BabyDoll. How clever is that! An easy home made gift but a rare for a LittleGirl to have.

Gluten Free Potato Cakes

We all love pancakes, don't we!

Yep, we do!
(Especially if there is one gluten free for me too!)

But potato cakes are good too. We learnt that in Scotland. And they are much healthier than the original ones.

Here we go! Special gluten free recipe alá TaijaS:

Just add and mix in the following order;
or add little bit of milk every now and then
after adding this and that. :)

1 kg mashed potaoes
5 eggs
1 litre milk
6 dl gluten free flour (I use Semper FinMix)
1 tea spoon salt

Vegetable oil or margarine for frying.

Fry on a pancake pan. If you are using iron one, remember to add vegetable butter for each potato cake.

But I do have something else for you too than just pan cakes and potato cakes...

I've been reading a book about Finnish sprites and mythical creatures.

I've been enjoying about a magazine. (I get few issues of country living themed magazine as a thank you gift because of some other order.)

Finally when I gave up and started to complain it became so hot that I dared to show my ghost white legs to the sun! (Only when I had secured hot mug of tea with me on my terrace...)

So, knitting my own design winter project feels reasonable in these "hot summer days"...

And I've been stitching my own design of Thistles inspired by our ScotlandStory. I started it from the frame and continued with spelling. It is a design you can grow up or divide in parts...And later on -when I have finished it- I will load it all up as a FreeChart for you.

GardenFlowers

I have an old house with an old garden. After moving here 2009 first years passed by cleaning the garden. On our early years here I planted just few things. Most of the time I was just picking up all the rubbish and weeding. I wanted to see what is under it all. These were the first loyal plants who lifted up their stems and repaid all the trouble.

Slowly also these have started to live again. I want them more!

There were many old rose bushes and I have planted more; like these.

I plant also pansies every year. I just love them.

I never stop amaze the shades the nature paint all over them.

These are new ones from this spring. They supposed to blossom 2 monts after the planting (= in May!!!) but it has been such a chilly spring & summer so they blossom now; when ever they wanted & desired. That is just fine with me.... To be honest I thought, after moving them out at late May, that they froze to death.

These are the same set with previous ones. I will plant them all into flower bed at late autumn time to see will they survive over MyArcticWinter. They should, but it really is a bit cold out there...

We live by the sea so it is a bit challenging for the garden. There are bushes between us and the sea, but the nearest shore is just 200meters far away. The wind is not very nice when it rises up out there and hit my garden.

But still it can be sunny and warm! This year daisies arrived in. I never planted them... Thank you who ever it was!

WinterProject in July

Despite it is full summer going on I have picked up a winter project. Hmmm... what it will  be? At least it is 100% FinnSheepWool and my own design.

Last year I learnt to knit cables. Now I don't understand why I had been avoiding them all my life. They are pretty and useful.

SweetDreamsBabyDoll

These were just a tiny box and left over materials from my treasure boxes spiced with my own design and imagination.

With the help of CraftPaper and fabric it all turned out to be approximately 12,5 x 7 cm size BabyDollBed. Very easy idea indeed!

The Bed got also Pillow & Blanket.

But who on earth will sleep on it?

Butterfly

Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch & Beading  magazine Issue No. 68 was a gift from a friend several years ago. It has a beautiful Butterfly design by Barbara Savage on the page 43. I do like projects working with just one shade. But in this time I wanted just to try it out how this beautiful design would look  stitched by DMC's Variegated shades. I used the shades DMC 51 for the forewings, DMC 90 for the hindwings and DMC 69 for the antennas and body.

I cose Zweigart's 14 Count Aida Silver Flecked White to be used in this project. A little bit of shine and luxury but not too much bling bling.

I added some extra to frame the butterfly. For the frame I used backstitches. Inner frame shade is DMC 69, the middle one in DMC 90 and the outer frame is DMC 51.

This is how my butterfly looks like compared to the original.
