End Of The Year 2015

Very soon year 2015 is behind. This is Kalevala Koru's collectible year 2015 Christmas tree decoration Satumainen joulu (Fairytale Christmas). The other Christmas tree collectibles you can fine at last Xmas blog.

My New Year celebration is going on cozy and silent. I am knitting my own design long woollen socks for myself.

And I am baking... and teaching my new friend how to be practical in cleaning up the baking stuff. The point is how to reach the bottom without breaking my valuable Tupperware shaker. Finally she made it and was so satisfied with herself! Oh, I am so proud of her.

The New Year Celebration is always a bit worrying when it is up to animals and fireworks. It is allowed around here to make your own fireworks on certain areas with certain rules. So this year, because of my new friend, my job is to be at home and around just in case to see everything goes on well... I was kindly served pear lemonade when left home alone.

Cat knows what it all is about. She hates it all but is just sleeping over it. She was smart and asked her food served hours earlier and one more extra portion. She knew beause of the excitement she is not able to eat anything later. She is 8 years old and has learnt it all.

Nuka has no idea about what this noise is all about. She is sleeping between sofa and bookshelf like nothing special is going on. So, my PetBabySittingSession is going on very easy by knitting and blogging. :)

Wish you all the year 2016 will decide to raise up bright like MySun yesterday morning after 10 am.

Lazy Days In December

These ChristmasSeasonDays are always so wonderful. LazyDays with Me,Chocolate&Book. This time I am reading L.M.Montgomery's A Tangled Web. Believe or not it was translated in Finnish only on 2012. I love reading and this year I aimed at to be able to read more than last year. This is the 20th book for this year but I must tell there are 5 short stories included.

Wolf-Like Nuka is a great reading companion!

Santa Claus brought me two adorable things for craft making. This pretty little box is one of them. (Do you recognize this Christmas Tree Rug?)

He made these Double Pointed Needle Holders for me but also for few friends of mine. They are made of rowan tree and oiled. Easy and useful gift for knitters. I started to knit wollen socks for myself

YoungLady made this GingerbreadHouse with horses. It is her Cristmas tradition.

Do you remember Santa'sSecretSilverSet? YoungLady L O V E S it!

The Set is useful also in skating.

I went to skate with YoungLady today. It is such mom & daughter thing for us to do.

We love to do it outdoors.
Under the wide open sky.
Only space above us.

ThisXmas

This Xmas -as many other- included a lot of gluten free baking. But still it was fabulous to have a gluten free citron cake as a gift from a friend. Thank you! It is really good!

Wrapping, smoked moose and extremely pretty card from another friend; designed by Finnish artist Sussi Anna Åberg.

Few well selected gifts and real XmasTree.

My two soft gifts this Xmas; poncho and dog.

She is just 10 months old playful little puppy.

Despite she is just a puppy she is already 60cm high...

...and can smartly use her paws when destroying bones.

She is a hunter and her training has already begun.
We have re-named her.
Now she is known as Nuka.

ArtPart2

At Kemi Art Museum is going on an interesting exhibition about famous Finnish artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865-1931). If you are around; go to see it. Quite rare we get these famous paintings around.

If you are around Helsinki; visit Gallen-Kallela Museum. This is his painting of it under construction. Place is called Tarvaspää and was his ateljé & home.

I love and adore his work.

This is one of his works which has influenced on me perhaps most. It is called Lemminkäinen's Mother.

He traveled also in Africa and was inspired there.

Like many others; he neither was able to finish it all. I can only image how great this one would look finished.

WarmChristmas

I have finally finished my last secret XmasProject. It is for my mother-in-law. It is a long warm scarf.

She can not wear sheep wool so that's why I chose Drops' alpaca & silk mix yarns. I used Drops' Baby Alpaca Silk (brown & white) (70% alpaca, 30% silk) (50g = 167m) and Drops' Alpaca Silk brushed (white) (77% alpaca, 23% silk) (25g = 140m). I also used some white Novita Teddy yarn (45% wool, 30% polyamide, 25% acryl) (100g = 110m) to crochet decoration flowers.

It is my own design especially for her.
There's warm fluffy lining in it.

The size of the scarf is approx 25cm x 220cm.

It is GingerbreadScarf!

It took many hours to make it but it all was worth of it. I used knitting machine for the brown part. Then I crocheted the edges and flowers. Then I tack the lining by my very own little fingers.

Hand Made gifts take some time and  commitment but it is always so wonderful to make them, give them and have them. The Love of Hand Made Gift warms you up through the whole cold season despite t would be something else than a warm scarf.

We wish you all Warmth of Hearts this Christmas.

LoveChristmas

I still have secret XmasProject going on. It includes silk and alpaca wool. Woollen gifts are like friendship. They keep you warm when it is cold. They defrost you if you have faced the chilly world. No matter how old they are they stand forever and the memory of them keeps your heart beating. If you use proper real wool -natural fibres- it all is like true friendship; TheTime can not fade it nor make it to disappear.

Since August YoungLady has missed dog friend. We all know that no one can ever replace your Good Old Friend. But if you only allow and try, someone might enrich your heart and make you to be able to live on without crippling heart ache.

We wish you all true love this Christmas!

VisibleChristmas

It is Polar Night Season here in Lapland, North Finland. It is dark. And when it is not dark, it is just grey. Few bright moments in a week. That is why we need reflectors to decorate our clothes. To be safe and sound in traffic.

This is an old hunting dog vest made and produced by E.I.S.Design. I sew reflectors on it to be used as a safety clothing of our new friend.

She is Nuka and wants to be seen in the dark.

She just moved in and has already had such a hard day. Yawn! ZZZZ ... But before sleeping she must -once more- go outside to boost out all her energy.

***

When I had to make the promised decision on the last August to send Granny to better hunting areas I was sure, no dogs in a long while. Not even a proper puppy from a proper kennel. Many years earlier I had promised to myself no more rescue animals into my house but what can I do to myself!

But then YoungLady and He started to talk about it, that could I train one more dog. I said NO many times on these months. If I had not been told about Nuka and went to meet her some time ago we still would have DogFreeZone. But here she is now. Besides she is not a rescue case. She is 10 months old, very loved dog without any thrauma in the need of hard physical activity and leadership to tame her energy. She was hand to me with breaking heart. But we all know that all about love is to think about the loved ones best; not your own emotions or money. She is my ChristmasGift. And I thank these two young women who wisely lead her to me.

Despite heart is broken at this very moment, the future will arrive and heal the wounds.

We wish you all that your needs will be visible and seen by the ones who can help you out this Christmas.

CableCollar

One more ChristmasSecret is finished. I used (again) Novita's7 veljestä yarn  (75% wool, 25% polyamide) (150g = 300m). I used the shades of brown and white.

It is going to be something warm for my LoveOne.

Something through which He can put His Head.

I used white crocheting and single cables to decorate it. It is a collar. Do you remember I knit one over two years ago?

My own design for Him&HisXmas.

ColorfulChristmas

This is Raanu. It is traditional Finnish craft. It's a rug made to be hang on the wall; used also as blanket. It has usually cotton warp and woollen weft. This is not my own design. Not even made by me. I got this from someone who had got it from somebody. At the end none wants to have it but someone knew I desire one.

So I had a job to be done. I want both ends look like this. No fringes.

So I cut the fringes to be just 2 cm tall. I folded them with the edge and hide behind the fold.

Then I tacked it all to be similar with the other end.

But what I will do with it? Well, I have changed my mind. I will use it as a Christmas Tree Rug despite it has no plastic lining. But I have decided that is ok because this is wool so it still protects our wooden floor of getting wet if pouring too much water for the tree. Yes, we always have real Christmas Tree. Later on we'll see how this all will look together.

We wish you Colorful Christmas!
