Fix The Lining -tutorial

Oh, dear Equestrian Fashion & Passion Branded by CRW (Classic Riding Wear) vest had faced similar catastrophe like His dear BackPack!

It's lining had started to fray and the seam ruptured. This is quite common problem with the linings but I show you an easy trick what you can do about it.

Just pick up a thread and needle. Make tiny stitches like this to close up the seam.

At the end no one can notice you fixed it and keep on wearing your dear old piece of cloth.

Besides; you wear it right side up and none sees inside if it is your first time and turns out a bit messy. Just make sure you sew far enough from the edge to prevent new fraying to happen soon.

See this to be done in another part of a cloth with different material here!

Ta-dah Loom Is Ready!

Last time I stopped working with MyLoom when we had got the warp transferred to the warp beam. Then I needed to go back a bit. I lift the warp up; see the raddle behind. I didn't loose it from the warp but from the beater and fastened it to hang from the upper parts of MyLoom. It is like a comb by which the warp stays in a perfect order. Then I set the harness and heddles ready.

After the heddles it was time for the reed. When I got through it, it was time to tie up the warp and see if it all was working.

Ta-dah! It is working!

I cut some weft from an old fabric and it turn out pertty nice. We'll see if I do anything of it!

Rosy

Here is Rosy. I used her story already once before to make a pretty card. Rosy is from Judy Hindley's book Rosy's Visitors illustrated by Helen Craig which I bought by just 0,20€ at our local library.

TheEnd of TheSpring

Soon it will be summer!

Almost all of the snow is gone!

Tiny white spots here and there.

The water is turning out from the snow and ice.

ABC -tutorial

AnotherBagCatastrophe has happen! I almost saw a big man to cry! When He washed His dear BackPack's fabric part it came out from the washing machine by fraying seams! You know I've been fixing bags before.

Some parts were even ruptured open!

But I knew what to do with it!

I used BiasTape!

It hides the seams and prevents the edges to fray again.

I secured also the mouth of the bag from the back side.

At front side you see nothing but few fading stitches. I used proper but normal sewing thread to make the sewing as invisible as possible.

It is His' very dear Savotta BackPack and now they can keep going on together to the SunSet! ❤

LoomFun

Here it begins: 15 meters of warp.

It needed to be transferred to the warp beam. This time we did it in a bit different and easier way because I had got a raddle from a friend of mine and I didn't need to use reed at this point like on the last time. (We, yep, there need to be at least two persons to get it done.)

At this point I stop today.

StrawberryBag

Do you remember how I stitched AlpineStrawberry in April?

Now I designed and sew a tiny bag of it which is closed up by velcro.

The inside of the bag is divided so it has kind of 2 pockets inside.

These small corner cuts create more space inside but also make it all easier to be turn right side up after sewing.

BrokenCanvas

Last spring I was helping out MyMom to sort out a lot of stuff. This was one of those re-usable things we found. Well, this was pretty heart breaking to her. It is done by her mother and all broken.

The back side didn't look any better than the front side. But I took the canvas anyway and promised her to do something with it but said aloud the fact "I am afraid of re-framing doesn't come up to the question".

I tried to be as careful as I could and at the end managed to get the frame off by causing no more damages.

Immediately when I got the back side off I saw I was -unfortunately- in right. The framer had cut off the corners of the tapestry. It was cut all the way to the stitching so re-framing would make the canvas ridiculous small and vanish the picture too much.

I took the tapestry off and worked even more carefully with it. It was very dusty and I know most of people would have threw it away. But I had already got my vision.

That's why I washed it and let it dry out and dust well to get rid of that old smell it had got because of the broken glass of the frame. When it all was done I became very sure about it that the tapestry really was re-usable as I expected. No damages to the stitching.

It waited over the winter in my wardrobe. I had my vision but I needed to figure out the right way of making it true. And I did. I found vintage materials for it.

The buckles are pretty and they really are from my own collection. When something is broken and need to be thrown away I always take off re-usable materials for my craft supply collection.

The old canvas turn out to be a handbag. It is Mother's Day gift for MyMom. Now she can carry it around with her and has something to hold to memorize her mom who passed away 7 years ago.

I split the canvas in the middle of it in the horizontal line. The seam is right in the bottom. I did it to make the tapestry to be right way around on the both side. If I had not done it the figure would have been right side up on one side and upside down on the other. It would have looked pretty in that way too. But I wanted right side up on both sides.

I made even a small pocket inside the bag to be closed up by velcro to keep her purse and phone in safe. For the lining I used left over fabric MyDearFriend L gave to me.

I don't know the designer of the canvas because we didn't find the info for it. But I designed the bag and made it. It was a pretty hard stuff to sew but I finished it by Anne who was more than pleased to help me out. This would have not been possible without Her; so thick were the fastening points of the shoulder strap.

Do you remember I made also SagaBag with the same history BrokenCanvas has?

AnotherTrial

I designed and knit a pair of woollen socks for Him. I tried out Novita's Tuomas yarn for these. (100g = 189m) (40% wool, 35% acrylic and 25% polyamide). Now we just wait and see what happens to them in use.

YouTube

On August 2015 I did some sport clothes for MySelf at MyWork. Many times people ask if my gym programs are available on internet. And many times I say no, no they are not available. They still are not; you really need to participate on the classes. But, I finally have promised to load up something on YouTube. They are going to be mainly small balance and body control exercises for home gym. So, now you can find Me on YouTube. I start with 12 step + extra BodyBalance program. I added also a link on my blog: see the right side links. The videos are in Finnish but I am sure you can understand my body language.

Trial

You know I used to be very satisfied to Finnish Novita's 7 veljestä yarn to make proper and lasting woollen socks. But after good old times they have put the quality down. I knit pretty romantic socks for Me from Novita's old collection I still had last balls left.

Now I went to MyFavouriteLocalYarnShop Pieni lankapuoti and asked if they had any other yarn to be recommended for TheSocks. They guided me to try this out. It is Lankava's Alli yarn. So I bought just one ball (100g) of it. It cost 4,90€. I designed and knit ShortSummerSocks for Me&MySelf .

The shade is delicious even tough I could wish it to be similar but MediterraneanBlue... JeansBlue could do just fine too. But more curious I am to see what happens to these socks in use. The yarn has 75% wool and 25% polyamide (100g = 200m). There was few irregularities in the yarn; but only few in the whole 200m.

The start is promising; the feeling of the yarn and finished pair of socks remind GoodOldSockYarns. But you never know on these days anymore, they could have added some chemicals to it... As you see I am very suspicious because of my disappointments to Novita's quality. Let's hope Lankava will become my new friend!
