BlueTit

Here are two interesting items. A piece of a wall paper DearM from TheFarm sent for Me Y E A R S ago. (Thank you once more!) Since that I have been treasuring it with MyStamps I use for the correspondence. Every time I open the file of MyStamps I see TheBlueTit. It was a sample to show how beautiful wall paper She had found but I wanted to keep it and do something with it... To decorate something special with it.

Few days ago He had left a box of old small tools at the kitchen table. I asked why it is there. He said it is going to recycling bin. OH! How could He do so??? It is B L U E! It is T I N B O X! I looked inside and told Him to remove inner structure and wash it W E L L. And He was very kind and did so. Now I finally had a box for BlueTit!

Let's work with it!

Because it was a wall paper (= thick paper) at the end I decided to glue it at first on the box to make sure it stays forever.

Then I let it dry a bit.

Because I wanted it to be everlasting I finished the project by using decoupage glue over the picture. It formed out a protective cover over the paper.

Now it is finished and filled with MySmallKnittingEquipment. Isn't it sooooo beautiful!

BabyBlanketNo7

What a beautiful and cost effective yarn Schachenmayr has made. It is KidLight with 38% nylon, 32% polyacryl and 30% mohair. I made a great bargain with this beautiful yarn and I have a lot of it now.

What makes it to be cost effective is that 100 g has 600 meters of yarn. For one sweater you need only two balls of this yarn. You are going to cry when you hear I paid just 2€ per 100 g ball of it. Yes, yes, yes, I bought M A N Y with the shades pale pink, white and grey.

Now I have tried it out. I made BabyBlanketNo7 by using PalePink shade. It is going to be a gift for a friend's baby.

It is very light but warm. Touching a cloud must feel like this blanket. It is my own design but you can find the basic idea to create similar seeing BlanketNo1 -tutorial. See also BlanketNo5 to find out how different kind of yarns create a different look to this basic and easy blanket idea.

BeautyInTraditions

YoungLady has finished HerVikingKnit. She used 0,3 size 999 silver wire. It is similar but longer HerDad did. Just look at how different they look despite the material and size are the same. That is why I love handicrafts! It all looks very personal! Granny will L O V E HerMothers'DayGift!

I must confess I became very curious about this 0,3 size silver wire. I did MyVikingKnitSet of 0,6 size and it looks so much different.

Two Horses

One more weekend at a silver course is behind. Now I have tried out all three forms or art clay silver; syringe, paste and now the normal clay for these horses. I must confess the clay is not MyType. I love syringe and paste but discovered clay very stressful.

These two horses have got the idea from Sue Heaser's book How to make silver charms from metal clay (pages 92-93).

DressDream

YoungLady needs a dress. Last weekend we went shopping but She could not find anything She liked. I truly wished She had. She made TheMEKKO two years ago and has been wearing it since. At the moment She is far too busy with Her graduation exams that She has no time for sewing. I made Her Turquoise Dress 3½ years ago. Both dresses are now far too small.

Because we could not find any dress for Her, She suggested a fabric shop. We had no design, no measurements... nothing... Just an idea in HerHead. So we went in, She found beautiful emerald green taft fabric. All they had was 1,43 m of it. I lift it all up next to Her and said "Well, we can do something like you want, it is just enough if I don't make mistakes."

At home I started to go through MyOldSewingMagazines and ended up to suggest this pattern to Her. As you know I do can make patterns OnMyOwn but to ease MyJob I decided to see if anything like that was available because She was not so unconditional about it all.

Look at the pic of the pattern. It is made for jersey / tricot fabric. But when you look at the smockings at front and by the sleeve cuttings and think the features of taft you start to think "Hey, why not, we might have something here." Jersey and tricot are both quite light and soft but taft is more thick and "self standing" so I think these smockings will create festive look for the pattern when used taft.

The best of all is you need just a bit more fabric we have. YoungLady wishes to have more wider skirt so you might say "no, that's not possible". BUT the taft we bought can be cut to both directions, there is no difference in the shine. If you look at the pattern setting guide you see I can just turn around the other pattern so that hems come to the both ends of the fabric and there I can find more space to make wider skirt! This is possible only then when the print, shine or structure of the fabric allows you to do so. (The sleeves I'll cut there were will be enough fabric left for them.)

It is Finnish sewing / craft magazine Suuri Käsityö (page 46, issue 5-6 / 2011).

Spring indeed!

The very first sign of the spring 2018 in MyGarden was this. It is a tiny special Rose I got from MyMother on the last July. It lives in a pot and can never ever be placed or plant outside in this arctic environment. It faded on the last autumn. On its label was written only "Scent Rose, can be tried to overwinter in a cool place indoors". When I saw last leaf fallen and its died stem, actually three stems, I decided to leave it in MyVeranda. In MyVeranda we have doors, windows, walls and insulation inside the walls plus central heating set up to +10 Celsius degrees. This spring, on one day, I noticed one stem had started to change its dried color to fresh green. It was like someone was slowly prouring green paint to its stem! I waited and waited for days and days. Two other stems had died but this one was waking up alive. See, there's even a tiny bud on the top of it!!!!

The next sign was this. I used old AdventCalendar locker to plant some seeds. I was very proud of MyImagination to recycle the old commercial Kids' AdventCalendar! I can use it for years if I manage to keep it unbroken.

Then I used many poisons (eco friendly) to was old rabbit litter boxes we don't need anymore to plant more seeds in tiny pots.

Even it still looks like this outside...

...and in the woods...

...where you can still ski...

...and cook on the open fire...

...desire it what the others have and you don't...

..and be so happy that they make some for you too...

...with marshmallows...

...you can see and feel it is S P R I N G !!!

Enjoy about the spring!

The spring brings in so many fascinating scents!

(PS. Still one meter of snow in MyGarden. Nuka sits on the path we have shoveled in MyGarden.)

AAW Shawl

This is MyCarryOnProject. The Latest one. I've been crocheting this during MyBreak at work; every week, many weeks... And now it is finished.

It is my own design and made of AAW wool. There's tutorial for this design. I didn't make the tassels -this time- because this is going somewhere a bit warmer than Finland.

There's also tutorial for a knitted shawl in MyBlog for the ones who prefer it.

FreeFromGluten

The ones who have been reading MyBlog for a longer time know already from the pic above that I am going to make something very extraordinary. I started MyBlog on January 2011. Here has never been, is not and won't ever be adverts. I hate adds, commercial mail and materialism. I don't get fees, payments or any refund about anything I write here on MyBlog. I want to keep this honest and fair. For those reasons I tell you now something I have discovered.

On January 2012 I had My coeliac disease diagnose about which you can read more at GlutenFreeZone. There are few things I've been missing since 2012. One is proper milk chocolate ice cream cone with crispy....

(no, not soft, I mean C R I S P Y !)

...wafer covered INSIDE by a layer of chocolate and the whole ice cream decorated by chocolate and hazelnuts. That has been incredible miserable thing to find despite it sounds very simple. Now I finally found out Lidl sells ones. They are not the ones which were my favorite since childhood but so far the best option and with them I can live on MyGlutenFree life.

Another great discovery has been that I finally found proper gluten free pizza which you can really eat without feel need to choke. This neither is like the ones you can have with gluten. But T H I S is something really worth of it. It is Dr.Oetker's new gluten free pizzas. I love Mozzarella. It is more expensive than Lidl's gluten free pizzas (I didn't like them, they too turn out more like a shoe sole than pizza) but really worth of it.

You can have 1 pack of Lidl's gluten free ice cream cones and 1 Dr.Oetker's gluten free pizza under 8€. If you need to serve tea for 4 that's enough. It makes max 2€ per person. And these are Finnish prices; I am sure elsewhere they are even cheaper. If you mix these two you can have low cost catering for friends to pop in for a cuppa without a stress. The best thing is these both are frozen so you can store them in your freezer for weeks.

CoverSiiri

Siiri needed a cover to hide Her when She has a free time. So I designed and sew Her a pretty case.

It is made of a piece of plastic fabric which I bought years years years ago at a sale. The piece had still the price on it. It had cost just 2€ and it all was just enough for Siiri's Cover. Really, there was not many square cm pieces to left over to be thrown away.

I used another bargain to sew the seams. I bought 25m of red-white bias tape on the autumn 2017. It all cost just 5€ and I really didn't use even half of it for Siiri's Cover.

Siiri has a handle to carry Her around so I needed to make also a practical cutting for it.

Siiri's pedal got also a case designed especially for Her by Me. ❤

I feared to fasten it to the CoverCase because it is plastic so I was afraid of it might rupture during the time. So I designed a separate case which I could fasten to Siiri to be carried with Her.

You can close it up by velcro. Now we both - I and Siiri- are very happy.

Singer 14SH645

May I introduce Singer 14SH645. She is MyNewSerger. You may remember I already have Brother. But He is old, over 17 years old by now and He is still working quite well. But in My use life is quite hard and demanding for Him. For several years I have been thinking He should get retired. I also have been thinking will I buy another serger or not. The final answer is "yes", it is so practical machine. Especially is you sew a lot.

Siiri (that is Her name) was on a good sale. She feels proper machine and ready for heavy duty. I wondered why She was on such a big sale. But now I know. She had just a few items with Her. But that's all we need. Exactly enough. She has the most important features: overlock and differential feed. That is all you need from a perfect serger. Everything else you can do by a good sewing machine. Brother had a huge pack of different kind of items with Him which I -honestly- have never needed. I can do it all just with the basic equipment (but I studied textile and cloth designing -including sewing- for 4½ years at the college). For Siiri I can buy everything separately if feel need to but I already know all I will need in the future are needle packs.

You should not fear sergers. I know they have 3-5 threads and it may feel complicated. They also are fast and have a cutter. It may increase your fear. Remember you can control the speed!

Today in every modern serger has a fast guide inside. Besides today internet helps with threading. The manufactures load up videos at their homepage or on YouTube to cope with it all.

But what happens to MyBrother? He moves out to have lazy retirement days at DearMrW and BeautifulE. I will make Him a medical investigation and full cleaning operation. I have already bought pack of basic threads for His retirement. At the end of May He will move to their NurseyHome for ElderySergers.
