The A N G E L

On the last December I promised to do MyBest to seek the origin of MyTombacAngel. Now I finally made it! Copyrights are very important to Me and I ask also you to respect them.

MyTombacAngel was made of tombac instead of pewter but still the original design is not mine. All the honor goes to designer Mary Maguire whose Treetop Angel was represented on Decorative tinware book edited by Simona Hill. You can find it on the pages 28-29 and 122. I am so proud of MySelf that I finally re-found the book at the local library and was able to share the information of the designer. I usually always write it down immediately but I lost MyPapers on this time.

DressageCard

Very rare I make a card using brand new materials. At this time I did so. I used Le Suh's Anna's Art horse themed 3D book which YoungLady found at a sale for me. I promised to use it to make cards for Her. She needs a card now so here we go...

Despite it is ready designed picture you can personalize it by different background. It is going to be Her school graduation card.

Meeting Elisabeth again!

I have used Elisabeth Hjortvid's book "En lagom liten pony" almost two years ago for card making.  It is illustrated by Margareta Nordqvist. Now I needed that old book again.

What a beautiful card it allowed me to make!

TheLiningAgain!

YoungLady had a sorrow. Her DearJacket had small problems. Despite it looks quite worn inside by the sleeves it still looks like brand new when She puts it on.

That's why I fix it. She loves Her jacket and after fixing there is no any reason to throw it away yet.

I have been fixing clothes before. There's Fix The Lining -tutorial where you can see this done in other cloth, part and material.

I have many other tutorials in MyBlog for you. Just view the web version to see the labels on right, click "tutorial" (they all are in alphabetical order) and all the tutorials appear in chronological order.

Just to mention few small, easy and simple tutorials for fixing the clothes there is one for the zipper of pants. There are also one for the school bags' most common problem. I must tell you that this school bag which I fixed on September 2016 is still in use. It is going to be broken on this very moment at its bottom part but that is all right. Schools are out after a week and YoungLady needs a bigger school bag for the next term.

Fixing up your old clothes and other stuff is not what poor people do and it should not be ashamed of. No, not at all. It is something environmentally educated people do.

Re-using, up-cycling, re-cycling or how ever you call it... it saves the nature sources a lot. Recycling your waste is very important but more important is to prevent the waste to be born, meaning that for example in this case no production of a new jacket was not needed so it saved a lot of nature resources in the whole cloth producing process and we reduced pollution in that way. You don't think it so often but cloth production actually begins from the cotton fields and oil drilling. Unfortunately.

The planet earth is far too beautiful to be wasted!

Naantali

Like I told you yesterday, Finland is a long country. At the same time you can find snow and faded cherry three blossoms. There just might be 500 km between the places.

Have you ever heard about Naantali? It locates in DeepSouthFinland. Everything is so much different there than in MyWorld.

But few things are the same: the sea and nature are around...

... TheOldTown has beautiful wooden houses...

... with special named alleys (LoveTrail)...

... and silent streets...

... plus plenty of green fresh air despite it is in South Finland where the most of Finland's population lives.

There are stunning rocks and cliffs. Don't go climbing there! Just sit down, have a picnic and enjoy! There are restaurants too. If you want to avoid crowds go there early Sunday morning before opening times, rush in the boutiques just when opening. Famous Moominworld is nearby so obviously all the people go there first. ;)

ArcticGarden

I told you earlier about our records with the snow. It has turn out that despite we had hard and very snowy winter, the spring wants to make a great surprise. It seems we are going to have the warmest May than ever before during the history they have been recording & measuring it all. This pic is taken on the 14th of May.

On the 17th of May I was on a walk with Nuka. It was hot (+17 Celsius degrees) but we still found some snow in the woods.

My HoneyBerries started to blossom today. In UK -for example- the flowering time is late winter or early spring. In MyGarden it is late spring or early summer.

I have always claimed that MyGarden is the coldest of the area. What comes to Finland's climate zones it is mostly subarctic / boreal. But Finland is a long country and many local zones fit in. In practical that means that the garden of my mother-in-law locates just 350 meters far away and it is a lot warmer than mine.

This OldHouse was built on 40's. The OldLady of the House seemed to love gardening like I do. But after Her and before Me the garden run wild. Most of these years we have lived here I've been weeding and cleaning the garden. I have been keeping plants that have pop out. Finally after 9 years I know now what this flower on the pic above and below is. It is a clear proof of it that MyGarden is cold. It is RoseRoot!!! WOW!!! It grows in northemost & coldest areas of Finland... and obviously in MyGarden where it loves to stay by the warmest SouthSideWalls!!!!

Beautiful Primulas have been flowering for a week now! Usually it all happens slow but now it seems everything in the nature happens at the same time. Never before I have been weeding in May. Now I've done it already twice! It is very hard to believe that still 20 days ago the sea was still frozen.

Angel Is Here

I have finally finished MyAngelProject. I have visited library several times but I still have not found the book from which I got the idea and original pattern. I will keep on looking at it and hope some day it is there and I can tell you the name of the original designer.

Edit. The designer is Mary Maguire whose Treetop Angel was represented on Decorative tinware book edited by Simona Hill.

OpenWaters

Hello everyone! How are we? What has happen since MyLastBlogPost? Well, well well... This year we made some kind of record with the snow. We had it for about 200 kg per each square meter. Yes, 200 kg on every single square meter of the ground. So, on the 4th of May we got pouring rain. Before that I still had much over half of MyGarden under 20-40 cm snow cover. We got also another day with pouring rain showers. It all means that today there are just tiny stubborn snow spots here and there in MyGarden. So, since MyLastBlogPost I've been gardening a lot.

Only few days ago all the waters got free from the ice. MySea Gulf of Bothnia had 70 cm thick ice cover and many ice breakers were still needed in May to keep industrial harbors open.

So far the floods are not as bad as expected... so far...

TheSnow belongs to our arctic spring. All the creatures are busy in breeding and nesting. DearNuka is sometimes a bit confused because of them. Remember, She was fixed, so She has no idea about it all...

These creatures don't mind if it is a bit chilly. They don't let the arctic climate to stop them. They are very determined.

I am happy to announce: It is not all about TheSnow anymore!

Spring is also a great time to make HomeMadeTea for the flu seasons. We pick up the annual growth buddings of the spruce. (You need permission for that from the land owner in Finland!!!) They need to be new, fresh and still light green. Then I just put them in tiny plastic bags and straight into freezer. I put ½ dl in one bag. It is one portion for one tea pot.

When you need them you can use them as frozen. When you pour the water over them make sure it is not boiling / too hot. Too hot water makes it all to taste just bitter and awful. After 3-5 minutes you have excellent drink for ease your stubborn flu.

Framing No2 -tutorial

When I framed the 1st bird canvas  I promised to show you how exactly I did it. There is Framing No1 -tutorial for this same style of framing which you make traditionally by using just thread. Here I use a bit modern method.

You start it as normal by placing the canvas, frame and cardboard together.

After making it sure it all is on the right place like you want; turn up the work.

Use SilverTape to fasten the canvas on the cardboard. Remember to pull & tighten at every point. If you ask help for this, working with SilverTape is much easier. Start with the longer edges...

... and go through each corner / edge.

At the end secure & hide it all by SilverTape.

If you have background cardboard; place it at the end. Now you are finished.
